Introduction to ScanBalt Academy
ScanBalt Academy (SBA) consists of distinguished and prominent scientists within health and life sciences from academia as well as industry and government.

Fellows of SBA must be born in or residents of countries and regions within ScanBalt BioRegion.

Purposes of SBA: 

• SBA is an independent, non-profit organization acting under the umbrella of ScanBalt BioRegion
• SBA will support efforts in developing ScanBalt BioRegion to a globally known brand on Top of Europe.
• SBA brings together distinguished scientists either located in academic institutions and/or research based industry and/or organizations in fields related to the Life Sciences and Health.
• SBA acts as Advisory Board to ScanBalt fmba and its activities.
• SBA organizes scientific meetings.
• SBA promotes mobility, exchange of information and establishment of contacts with organizations with similar objectives especially within ScanBalt BioRegion.

Presidency
Elected President of SBA is Professor Lene Lange, Director of Research, Aalborg University, Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering. 

Elected vice presidents of SBA are:

Professor Carl-Henrik Heldin, Uppsala University

Professor Horst Klinkmann, Dean of the International Faculty of Artificial Organs.

Professor Andres Metspalu, University of Tartu

Professor emeritus Kaare R. Norum, Oslo University
