ScanBalt Strategy 2012 - 2015

ScanBalt will provide support and service to the members; promote public-private collaborations and partnerships and strengthen ScanBalt BioRegion as an open innovation market in order to enhance innovation, employment and economic growth.

ScanBalt will assist to educate, train and attract talent and facilitate the mobility of people and ideas.

ScanBalt will be a forum for discussions of the impact of health and life sciences on society.

 
Values
Health and Life sciences have a major potential to contribute to health, welfare and prosperity. However, the application of health and life sciences also presents dilemmas to society.  Exploitation of health and life sciences and promotion of growth must be avant-guarded through dialogue between science and society.

ScanBalt will promote such a dialogue.

Sustainable development means goals for economic, social and environmental policy that are sustainable and mutually consistent with enhanced economic growth. Sustainable development is an overarching objective for ScanBalt.

Thus the development and application of health and life sciences must take place in harmony with health of citizens and the environment and must be consistent with common fundamental values and ethical principles.

Equality, respect and trust are core values for fruitful interactions. The development of ScanBalt BioRegion requires that these values are respected and that all involved parties will benefit while working together towards the same goals.

Focus Areas
The strategy 2012 -2015 focuses on 3 areas in order to promote that goals defined in the vision and mission are reached in accordance with the values:

1. Focus Area: EU BSR Strategy and EU2020
ScanBalt facilitates and promotes flagships projects and activities supporting the EU BSR strategy and EU2020 including the EU Innovation Union by developing coordinated and coherent activities, enhancing visibility and by promoting excellence.

2. Focus Area: Visibility and Internationalization
ScanBalt promotes knowledge and understanding of ScanBalt BioRegion, its stakeholders and their objectives facilitating internationalization of regional clusters.

3. Focus Area: Member Services and Organisational Development towards Triple Helix 3.0 and Cluster Excellence
ScanBalt should be further developed as a triple helix organisation setting new standards for efficient and coordinated use of scarce resources as a tool for promoting regional cluster excellence.
