About BSHR HealthPort
Health care as a driver for a competitive and knowledge based health economy
The project "Business acceleration support and training bridging innovative SMEs and health care organisations to strengthen BSR health economy" (in short BSHR HealthPort) focus on the interactions between Health Service providers and SMEs with the aim of enhancing innovation, reduce health care costs and promote SME access to the BSR Health Care market. Health care is not only a cost for society but also as a driver of a competitive and knowledge based health economy. BSHR HealthPort promotes a strong and sustainable Baltic Sea Region health economy.
BSHR HealthPort is co-financed by the Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007 - 2013 and is part of the EU Baltic Sea Region Strategy flagship ScanBalt Health Region.
Bottlenecks in health care innovations
BSHR HealthPort addresses key bottlenecks in health care innovations like insufficient commercial exploitation of solutions proposed by health care researchers and practitioners; procurement practices limiting SME access to the health care market; insufficient innovation competencies of target groups. BSHR HealthPort bridges gaps between health care providers and SMEs. The ideas from clinics are transferred into business environment through idea competition and direct business support measures. BSHR HealthPort provides involved actors with the necessary business skills; supports SME in procurement practices and promotes SME access to financing.
Key deliverables
The experiences from the project will be collected in guidebooks and pilot business cases as well as educational programmes. Additionally, the project will analyse regional capacities to transfer innovative products and feed this knowledge into a BSHR HealthPort Innovation Agenda and strategy document.
