Any participant in ScanBalt can propose a project to be nominated a "ScanBalt project" according to guidelines approved by the ScanBalt Steering Committee.

To be accepted as a ScanBalt project, the project has to be inside a discipline related to biotechnology and/or life sciences.  The project needs to have at least 5 partners from at least 3 different regions and two different countries - all within ScanBalt BioRegion.  If these requirements are fulfilled, further participants from outside ScanBalt BioRegion can be partners in ScanBalt projects. The Steering Committee of ScanBalt is reponsible for the approval.

The projects - except projects coordinated by ScanBalt itself - shall have their own management and shall follow rules established by the project itself as long they are in agreement with Vision and Mission for ScanBalt.
