Knowledge formation, Innovation and Visibility
Aarhus, Denmark on May 15th –16th 2007
The purpose of “ScanBalt Campus – Final Event” is to sum up the achievements of the projects launched under the ScanBalt Campus initiative. At the second day of the conference the result of the eight Knowledge Networks will be presented and there will be a debate about the continuation of the projects.
As the theme of the conference we have chosen “Innovation and Tech Transfer in the ScanBalt region”. Our aim is to focus on the Innovation Chain at the universities in the ScanBalt Region: From entrepreneurship among students and researchers to patenting of research results and ending with commercialization in the form of licensing or start-up companies. Entrepreneurship is how the University creates an entrepreneurial spirit among students and scientists. Patenting is how the university secure that all relevant research results are patented in due time. Commercialization is how the University supports scientists and students in starting up their own companies and how the University it self commercialize the IPR owned by the University.
ScanBalt Campus is a pilot project aimed at creating a critical mass in research and education within some selected scientific areas within biotechnology and life science. In the project 31 universities, hospitals and companies from 10 countries in Northern Europe unite to increase the mobility of students, lecturers and researchers within the ScanBalt region. The project pioneers in putting the Bologna process into practice within a large network. Furthermore, ScanBalt Campus aims at being a model for a trans-national and trans-sectorial organization, based on education, research and development.
