8th Trayss Prime Workshop "Commercial exploitation and IP management in biotechnology"

Copenhagen, 3rd April 2008

In today’s knowledge-based society intellectual property (IP) has a special role. IP forms a legal basis for creating and marketing new ideas, technologies and scientific works. It is an important factor in the development of science, economy and culture. IP’s role in global, regional and national developments is increasingly growing. Biotechnology is a specific field of human activity. As part of life sciences and industry, biotechnology secures the quality and future of mankind, if used in an ethical manner. This is why IP has a special role to play in the biotechnology sector, from the protection of an idea to commercialization and business development.

This workshop will be covered by European experts from the field of intellectual property management and technology transfer as well as Scandinavian experts in the field of IP commercialization. Participants will study the pathway from basic research to commercial exploitation as commonly practiced in both biotechnology industry and academia. Real-life case studies implement the recently attained knowledge. The participants will also learn the possibilities of protecting and utilising their own know-how, e.g. with the constitution of IP value, the formulation and implementation of an IP strategy and the presentation of a patent example.

Venue: The seminar takes place at ScanBalt, Arne Jacobsens Alle 15, Copenhagen Orestad City. The venue can be arrived by public transportation, Copenhagen airport and main train station are only 20 minutes by urban railway or taxi away from the venue. (How to find us)
