EXPERYMENT SCIENCE CENTRE- SCIENCE FOR CHILDREN

Almost 60 000 sightseers have already visited the EXPERYMENT Science Centre, a scientific playground opened on the 1st of June 2007 within the premises of the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia.

The EXPERYMENT Science Centre is one of Poland’s first establishments combining science and fun into an attractive leisure time activity. A visit in the EXPERYMENT allows amateur explorers to effectively acquire enjoyable and useful knowledge, aids in the understanding of nature’s everyday processes and stimulates the curiosity of the world and its phenomena. The EXPERYMENT Science Centre not only presents a high-quality edutainment offer for entire families, but also acts as a fascinating educative support for standard schooling programmes.

The inhabitants of the Tricity (Gdańsk – Sopot – Gdynia), as well as tourists and school pupils broaden their knowledge of the surrounding world with the aid of almost forty interactive exhibits grouped into five thematic sets.
The exhibits assembled within the Human section accustom the visitors with the anatomy of the human body and its marvels.

Exhibits related to the subject of Environment present nature’s backstage laws and processes. The Sounds display units educate the youngest visitors (and not only them) in a straightforward manner of what exactly a sound is and how it can be created. The fourth section, devoted to Physics, deals with the problematics of weight and portrays the solutions applied in building since ancient times. Last but not least – Optics give an insight into the secrets of mirrors and reflections.

All of the exhibits are directly accessible to visitors – they are free to be touched, in fact they need to be touched, tested and experimented with.

The EXPERYMENT Science Centre consists not only of its interactive exhibition, but also serves as a location for the organization of meetings and shows. Family teams can participate in regular biochemistry and robotics workshops. School teachers benefit from frequent trainings and conferences devoted to the diversification of educative methods with the support of the Science Centre’s equipment.

The EXPERYMENT Science Centre was created as part of the creActive NET Project, the main objective of which was to cooperate for creating dynamic, well-educated societies through implementation of common activities in the area of education in Gdynia and Klaipeda Regions. The Project was part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the framework of the Lithuania, Poland, Kaliningrad Region of Russian Federation Neighbourhood Programme, as well as the Voivodeship Fund of Environment Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk and the National Fund of Environment Protection and Water Management.
