ScanBalt Academy
The ScanBalt Academy supervises and contributes to the activities in ScanBalt projects and its members act as ambassadors for ScanBalt.Criteria for ScanBalt Academy
ScanBalt Academy (SBA) will consist of a group of distinguished and prominent life scientists from academia as well as industry and government. Fellows of ScanBalt Academy (SBA Fellows) must be born in or residents of ScanBalt countries and regions. SBA serves the following purposes:
• Adds credibility to the scientific quality of ScanBalt projects and initiatives
• SBA or SBA committee’s serves as advisory boards of ScanBalt Campus (SBC) and other SB activities
• SBA Fellows gives lectures or teach courses in ScanBalt BioRegion
• SBA Fellows act as ScanBalt Ambassadors.
• SBA Fellows act as evaluators on proposals for new SB activities and projects.
• SBA help reverse brain-drain from SB BioRegion, and help to engage SB expatriates to engage in SB activities.
Core group of the Academy
Elected president of ScanBalt Academy is Prof. Kaare Norum, Oslo University (former Rector) and elected vice president is Prof. Leena Peltonen-Palotie, Helsinki University.
To ensure the good mix between excellencies of academic and industrial competence a core group with representative from universities and business life has been identified by president and vice president . In order to ensure the geographical spread of the academia it was also required to have a minimum of 2 persons from each of the ScanBalt countries represented in the core group.
