MARKET ORIENTED INNOVATIVE AQUACULTURE

Innovative aquaculture is the focus of the EUREKA umbrella, called INNOFISK

The INNOFISK umbrella is now in its definition phase, giving you a unique opportunity to make sure that your research topic will be included and thus eligible to apply for future EUREKA funding.

INNOFISK will be a European-wide platform that combines R & D capabilities and expertise in order to generate market oriented projects in the area of fish breeding.

A sector specific thematic network

INNOFISK is an umbrella under EUREKA.  A “EUREKA Umbrella” is a thematic network focusing on a specific technology area / business sector, in this case Innovative aquaculture.

The aim of INNOFISK is to facilitate the generation of a number of EUREKA projects by. Activities will be coordinated and handled by a chair and secretariat.

The INNOFISK definition phase runs until summer 2006; following that we expect the launch of several fish breeding projects and activities involving a wide range of research institutes, companies and public bodies.

Nine focus areas for the INNOFISK project

  1. Breeding of new fish species
  2. Combination breeding
  3. Breeding process
  4. Novel fish feed components
  5. Animal well being and prevention of fish diseases
  6. Improved fish processing
  7. Fish waste management
  8. Nutritional value
  9. Development of a quality hallmark

The envisaged projects should be market oriented and involve both academia and industry, active in one or more stages of the fish production process

ScanBalt can coordinate contributions and aim to support input from the ScanBalt actors .
