GETTING TO ESTONIA
Common gateway to Tartu is Tallinn Airport (TLL) that is approximately 2-2.5 hours drive from Tartu. It is usually the most convenient way to get to Tartu. Direct flights to Tallinn are available from several cities in Europe.

Tallinn can also be reached by ferry from Helsinki and Stockholm. The Old City Harbour is situated right in the city center. Further information: Port of Tallinn

You can also try Riga International Airport in Latvia. It will take approximately 5 hours to Tartu, but you should consider renting a car as buses run only twice a day to Tartu.

LOCAL TRAVEL
The distance between Tartu and Tallinn is 186 km. For travel from the Tallinn Airport to Tartu please use following options available:

Shuttle Bus Service
The shuttle bus from Tallinn to Tartu departs from the airport on September 20th and 21st. The exact timetable will be available on September 18th.
All the delegates who wish to make a booking please send your request consisting your flight's number, arrival and departure time to priit.perna@genomics.ee latest on September 15th. 
On September 18th we will send each person who requested transfer detail information regarding the departure time, vehicle and price.  

After the conferences there will be free shuttle bus taking delegates from Tartu to Tallinn (airport or city). The bus departs from the venue at 14.00 on September 22nd and at 18.30 on September 23rd. Please contact priit.perna@genomics.ee to make a booking (latest on September 15th).

Express coaches
If you plan to continue your journey with public transport we suggest you to take a taxi from airport to Tallinn Central Bus Station and a coach to Tartu from there. The taxi fare is approximately 75 EEK/ 5 EUR. In order to avoid misunderstandings, clarify the approximate fare to the destination  in advance and ask for receipt.

The express coaches to Tartu run approximately every half hour during the day, costing 95 EEK/6 EUR and driving 2.5 hours. Please see the homepage of Bussireisid for routes and timetables.

On arrival to Tartu bus station we suggest that you take a taxi to get to the hotel or the conference venue. 

Rent a car
Another option is rent a car. There is Avis office at the airport.

Taxi
As an alternative and especially in case of a small group of people (3-4) arriving together at the Tallinn Airport, you may consider taking a taxi from the Tallinn airport to Tartu. Plenty of taxis are available in front of the airport. It is recommended, however, to agree on the cost of the taxi drive with the driver in advance at the airport. The cost of Tallinn-Tartu taxi drive (2-2.5 hrs) is around 1400-1600 EEK (89-102 EUR). Receipts are available in all taxis on the request.

VISAS
Visa information is available on the web page of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (www.vm.ee/eng). The nationals of the countries listed in the section "Who do not need a visa to visit Estonia" may visit Estonia without a visa. The nationals of other countries have to apply for a visa at the foreign representations of the Republic of Estonia.

CURRENCY
The national currency is Estonian Kroon (EEK); 1 EEK=0.064 EUR. International credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Eurocard) are widely accepted in the dining places, shops, etc. both in Tallinn and Tartu.
