REGENERATIVE MEDICINE
ScanBalt campus Kowledge Network
The basic strategy is to bundle existing high-level research activities in the field of centers of regenerative medicine, biomaterials, stem cell research and ethics to form a virtual center representing a north-European knowledge region in regenerative medicine. The center is planned to be positioned as an international competitive regional cluster and to recruit national grant support.
Regenerative medicine is a relatively new area of research which relies on the results of various disciplines.
In this Knowledge Network scientists and clinicians from the different fields of indications in Regenerative Medicine as cardio-vascular, neuro, musculo-sceletal and others cooperate with each other and with specialist in the fields of (Stem-)celltherapy; Tissue Engineering, Biomaterials and Drugs. Further included are experts for clinical translation, intellectual property, law and ethics.
All stakeholders in the different fields bring their ideas for academic, industrial and healthcare development into the network and will offer a number of possibilities for students (i.e. mobility programs, individual training) to be qualified in the exciting field of Regenerative Medicine.
The Knowledge Network was founded by Prof. G. Steinhoff in 2005 and is specialized in research, development and education in the field of Regenerative Medicine.
ScanBalt Regenerative Medicine Knowledge Network is coordinated by the Institute of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapy (IRMED), Biomedical Research Center Rostock, the University of Rostock, and BioCon Valley.
