Activities in the Baltic Entrepreneurship Training network

Past activities:

A first milestone in the establishment of the network was a joint publication on Entrepreneurship with contributions from most countries bordering the Baltic Sea: Braun, G. and Diensberg, C.: Entrepreneurship im Ostseeraum: Unternehmertum als Motor von Wachstum und Integration, Berlin: edition sigma 2002. An international conference under the same headline in Rostock was the first face-to-face meeting of several partners the same year.

Thereafter, some conferences (like the yearly ICSB and INTENT fora) were used for discussion - some ongoing projects did serve as a vehicle for information and staff exchange. It was realised that own resources would only allow for slow progress in cooperation and mutual learning. Thus, private foundations and public sources of finance were screened for funding opportunities.

Activities finally resulted in a first INTERREG IIIC application in September 2003 by 8 of the partners - which was rejected on formal grounds. These partners then deepened their discussion process and were happy to include additional interested partners from Poland, Finland and the Netherlands for the second and successful INTERREG IIIC application. A first BEPART conference – “Towards Entrepreneurial Regions. A perspective on learning, knowledge & innovation.” – was implemented in November 2005 in Crhus, Denmark. A symposium on “Innovative Actions in Entrepreneurship Education & Training” was hosted in Rostock on the 8th and 9th of June 2006.

Future Activities:

  •  2nd BEPART Conference in Tartu, 26-28 October 2006
  •  Project development from the joint research platform
  •  Implementation of Training-of-Trainer courses
  •  Development of a European Master Programme in Entrepreneurship Education
  •  Strengthening the knowledge network
